Overview of Metadata

Assets are equipped with various metadata that enable us to categorise them systematically, find them again in the system and process them further. Some of these are mandatory and others are optional. Here is an overview with examples of when which data is relevant.

Overview of metadata and mandatory fields

This overview shows the main categories of our metadata. Further, detailed subcategories can be displayed in the system, which are not shown for the purpose of clarity. Some data is already available in the system (e.g. file information) and other data must be entered when uploading the assets.

Some metadata is mandatory for all assets. Depending on the asset type, additional data become relevant and mandatory.

The following examples show with colored markings which metadata is relevant when and must be entered when uploading assets.

RED - always mandatory
YELLOW - also mandatory in this case
BLUE - is automatically filled / transferred by maintaining other fields, no manual maintenance
